| Business Plan Templates | There are many templates and software for business planning on web. They are aimed to make easier this process, especially for beginners. Template-based business plan software provides model documents to guide you in creating your own business plan. Such kind of templates requires other software in order to work, usually Microsoft Word or Excel.
Word templates are usually based on great parts of standard business text that is obviously generic. Slight modification will lead to an individualize business plan. But still, try to change a standard template as much as possible. Use your own words because if you just insert a few paragraphs here and there the change in writing style will be obvious. Any attentive and sophisticated reader of your business plan will easily notice it. It may cause hesitation in your ability to execute the plan.
Spreadsheet templates are more convenient for creating the financial component of your plan, particularly if they’re designed for a similar type of business. Don't forget insert your own numbers. Be careful selecting a template, it should be based on the right model. A business involved in making products has different financial requirements than one which provides services. A service-oriented business will require greater emphasis on the costs relevant to delivering the services whereas a product-oriented business will need calculations for inventory, the raw materials and finished goods available for sale to customer.
Normally, the financial projection is calculated for the next five years. It's better to make an integrated financial projection which includes the income statement, cash flow and balance sheets. It's necessary to make detailed monthly projections for the first year or even two. In future financial projections may be limited by annual figures.
