You can write this section of the business plan in the form of several short paragraphs, including Industry Overview, and your Position in the Industry. Don’t provide a lot of details in this section. Give just a general overview.
When writing the Industry Overview section of the business part, describe the following: - the size of the industry; - sectors which this industry include; - the major players in this industry; - the markets and customers typical for the industry; - the industry's estimated sales for the last 3 years; - what national and economic trends have affected the industry and how; - what national/economic trends might affect it in the future and how; - the long-term outlook for this industry.
For the Position in the Industry section you have to explain other points: - what products or services your business will be offering; - what the difference is between your Selling Proposition and your competitors’ one; - what problems can prevent you from entering the industry and how you’re going to manage with them; - who your competitors are and what market share they have; - what your target market is; - if you plan to protect your product or process, how it will be (i.e. patents, copyrights, trademarks, or franchise rights).
